About the team and position

Join Carvana's Legal Department in the role of Analyst, Privacy Compliance . As a member of Carvana's Privacy Compliance Team, you'll be responsible for the completion of various projects and assignments related to the development, maintenance, and execution of Carvana's privacy compliance program and operations. Your responsibilities include processing consumer privacy requests, mapping information and documenting data flows, attending meetings, monitoring systems, drafting and reviewing documents, researching and summarizing information, and collaborating with other Carvana team members throughout the organization to achieve results related to privacy program operations.

Some of what you'll be doing:

  • Process consumer privacy requests.
  • Support Carvana's Privacy Compliance Team in creating, implementing, and maintaining programs and processes to facilitate compliance with applicable federal and state privacy laws and regulations.
  • Work with Carvana's Privacy Compliance Team and/or Privacy Counsel to identify, review, and implement new or updated privacy compliance-related obligations and initiatives.
  • Function as a project manager to build or modify privacy compliance programs and processes.
  • Work with Carvana's Privacy Compliance Team and/or business stakeholders to analyze business processes, document data flows, and/or advise on potential privacy compliance gaps across the organization.
  • Collaborate with Carvana's business units to find solutions to common privacy compliance issues.
  • Document Carvana's changing data environment and apply new or changing privacy practices to new or existing compliance processes and controls.
  • Assist with drafting and revising privacy-related policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Develop privacy compliance-related training materials and communications for the organization. Provide training and track completion.
  • Conduct privacy compliance assessments and investigations with assistance from key stakeholders. Drive remediation efforts and track implementation of corrective actions.
  • Develop and conduct risk assessments with assistance from key stakeholders; track and assist with implementation of controls related to risks or gaps identified.
  • With the assistance of the Privacy Compliance Team and Privacy Counsel, maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable state and federal privacy laws and regulations, including those involving employee and consumer data privacy, information security, and cybersecurity, as relevant to Carvana's privacy compliance program.
  • Under the direction of the Privacy Compliance Team and/or Privacy Counsel, research and summarize privacy compliance issues, risks, or other findings.
  • Help drive privacy engagement across the organization.
  • Lead and complete projects and other deliverables as assigned by Legal or Compliance Team leadership.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

This position requires an understanding of Carvana's organizational goals and an appreciation of how the Privacy Compliance Team's efforts can support those goals, while simultaneously managing privacy compliance risks related to Carvana's complex regulatory and legal requirements and business environment. This position requires frequent interaction with Carvana's business teams and requires clear communication that presents complex and technical information in a concise and easy-to-understand manner.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Privacy credentials and certifications, such as a CIPP/US, CIPP/E, or CIPM
  • 1-3 years of business, legal, privacy, and/or compliance experience, preferably in a highly regulated industry
  • Experience influencing others to take action
  • Experience interacting with and working directly with/for internal and external business partners
  • Experience meeting quick deadlines
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
