Join Our Team as a Petting Zoo Attendant!
Do you love working with animals and engaging with the public? Dundee Township Park District is looking for enthusiastic and responsible Petting Zoo Attendants to care for the animals and ensure a safe, fun, and educational experience for visitors at Randall Oaks Zoo. If you enjoy hands-on animal care, maintaining clean and safe exhibits, and interacting with guests, this is the perfect opportunity for you!
What Youll Do
As a Petting Zoo Attendant, youll:
Provide daily care for Petting Zoo animals, including diet preparation, feeding, cleaning, and enrichment.
Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming Petting Zoo environment throughout the day.
Monitor and report any animal health concerns, abnormal behavior, or unsafe conditions.
Ensure guest safety and enforce all Petting Zoo rules and protocols.
Engage with visitors and oversee guest-animal interactions to promote positive experiences.
Accurately complete all required reports daily.
Assist with enrichment programs and training techniques under supervisory guidance.
Support Dundee Township Park Districts mission by providing excellent customer service and teamwork.
Work outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
Who You Are
You're a motivated team player with:
At least 18 years old.
Some college coursework in education, biology, zoology, or a related field.
Strong interpersonal, team building, and communication skills.
A positive attitude, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
Good physical condition with the ability to work on your feet and lift moderate loads.
Some computer skills (preferred).
Schedule
Part-time, working up to 40 hours per week from March through October.
Scheduled days: Sunday Friday, 7:00 AM 5:00 PM.
Weekend and holiday hours may be required.
